International trade

Transport starts with trade. International trade is a specific legal field with special rules and for which special treaties may apply such as the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The system of applying standard terms and conditions can work very differently when dealing with a foreign party in a trade relationship. If the conditions are not made applicable properly, it can well be that the conditions will either conflict with others (Battle of forms) or not apply at all. The Caland lawyers are all competent to deal with these types of matters.

A special expertise within Caland Advocaten exists in the field of trade in tropical fruit, but there is also expertise in other commodities such as meat, grain and metal. Of added value is the fact that the Caland lawyers are familiar with the special branch organizations that exist for specific commodities, their standard terms and their arbitration committees.
